BASF guanzhihua talks about challenges and opportunities in the post crisis era on March 2, 2010, the "2010 (8th) China Forum for multinational corporations" hosted by the Research Institute of international trade and economic cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce was held in Beijing. The theme of the forum is "Sina crossing the crisis and focusing on China - strategic opportunities and compliance management for multinational corporations in the post crisis era". The picture shows guanzhihua, senior vice president of BASF global and chairman of BASF Greater China management board. The following is the transcript of the speech:

guanzhihua: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Thank you very much for arranging us to share BASF's experience with you today, and I am here for the sixth consecutive year to meet you and have the opportunity to speak. Today, our topic is the challenges and opportunities in the post crisis era. To establish a sustainable corporate culture, whether it is a crisis or a post crisis, it is basically the same as us. When it is full of challenges, we need to look at the nature of that person and his attitude towards things. Relatively speaking, enterprises also need to look at the culture of the enterprise and the nature of the enterprise. In the process of dealing with the crisis, what kind of essence do we take as our guiding direction

BASF established the general core values of our company a long time ago. Our principles and values are that we do things in this way no matter what the situation, whether in crisis or post crisis. Here we can see how we achieve sustainable and profitable growth, how to innovate for our customers, especially in the chemical industry. We are committed to safety, health and environmental protection, Our, as well as the above three parts, are our overall people-oriented orientation. Today, I hope to start from the values that our simplest company requires every employee to abide by. How do we face such a financial crisis? In other words, how do we deal with our development in the process of financial crisis and in the post financial crisis era

in 2009, we were able to maintain global sales of 50.7 billion euros, while maintaining our profit of 4.9 billion euros. This figure was announced only last Thursday. This is not the most important thing. Our total number increased in 2009 last year because we acquired a Swiss chemical company. At the same time, we have always maintained various sustainable development indexes as our due contribution. Based on our normal operation in the Greater China region, we now have more than 6000 employees in the Greater China region, and the profit last year could reach 4.1 billion euros in sales. We just mentioned that we acquired a Swiss chemical company. We completed the acquisition business in 2009. In April last year, we also received strong support from the Ministry of Commerce of China. We were able to complete our acquisition in April. In July, our portfolio plan has been put forward. We are ready to complete the internal integration of all the acquired companies by the end of March 2010, including all it systems and our internal organizational structure, Everything has been done

at the same time, we plan to achieve a synergy of at least 1billion euros in 2010 and 2012 because of the synergy of our two companies' Mergers and acquisitions. Now they have been completely replaced by CNC devices and computer software. At the same time, we can save about 300million euros by 2010. One of the most important advantages of BASF's sustainable development is our integrated and scientific management. At the same time, it is a very good example of circular economy. We connect the production collection to the upstream and downstream production, not only to achieve economic benefits, but also to give full play to its high requirements for the environment, emissions and energy. BASF is the most famous company in the world for its concept and operation. In 2005, we brought this concept to China and put it into operation in Nanjing. This joint venture has been operating very well. It is one of the best performing enterprises since 2005. At the same time, our partner Sinopec also said that this is one of the best joint venture experience

but this is the past. I would like to emphasize that in such a difficult year last year, we reached an agreement to expand the production of such a major investment as Nanjing. Last year, we agreed, with the support of the Chinese government, to complete and determine to further improve the market cooperation of Nanjing's factory expansion in 2009, to expand our second phase, a total of US $1.9 billion. The first phase is US $2.9 billion, The second phase, which we decided to do in 2009, contains ten sets of downstream devices, each of which is world-class. Compared with our production capacity in the first phase, its added value is higher. In this case, the joint venture in Nanjing was established in 2000. During the Asian financial crisis, we expanded the second phase in 2009, just when we encountered the global financial crisis. This also represents our commitment to our long-term development in China and our simplest values. We hope for sustainable and profitable growth

in the second part, I just mentioned that we innovate for our customers. Of course, our customers also represent different industrial sectors, especially different societies at this stage. At present, we are still actively maintaining our R & D strength during the financial crisis. However, for BASF, our main R & D part includes five categories, which can be seen in the picture. Including crop biotechnology and industrial biotechnology, as well as nanotechnology, energy management and changes in raw materials, we feel that we have to develop in the future. These innovations and R & D can help us solve many big problems. We also hope to help our customers solve their current problems

so we can see that there is a big problem that everyone can participate in, that is, the consideration of low-carbon economy. Under this premise, the carbon value of all products of BASF in the whole life cycle, from our raw materials, such as oil and natural gas, which may not be produced in BASF, to our own factories, because the chemical industry still needs energy, we also have some emissions in this process. Our products are used in the process of their use, How to reduce BASF's carbon emissions according to BASF's solution. No matter what the product terminal is, we also consider its final handling. In the whole process, we did research together with third-party experts. Seeing such a life cycle, we can see that our products can help us save three times as much carbon as our raw materials in the process of chemical production. Similarly, without our products, they may need other replacement schemes to increase carbon emissions. In this process, we firmly believe that if we can do well in the chemical industry, according to our solutions, we can indeed help our customers solve the major challenges of the current low-carbon economy. Some of the research we have done here, including our picture, can be seen until it is normal. In fact, the most important combination is our products, various products and solutions. In our housing and construction industries, of course, it includes some materials that are more environmentally friendly and energy-saving in various construction industries, as well as the automobile industry and other industries
